AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA, APPROPRIATING $100,000 WITHIN THE EMERGENCY MEDICAL
SERVICES CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND (#288)
TO PURCHASE A USED FIRE TRUCK
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
The City of South Bend Fire Department wishes to purchase a used fire truck (pumper) for
firefighting. The request for an appropriation of these monies will help enable the South Bend Fire
Department to fight fires and to deal with other disasters more efficiently and to benefit and best
protect the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCII. OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH BEND AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The following sum of money is hereby set aside and appropriated within the Fire
Department Emergency Medical Services Capital Improvement Fund (#288) for the purchase of a
used fire truck (pumper):

288-0902-422-43-02 Fire Department Equipment Fund $100,000.00
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the
Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

Please find attached for filing an Ordinance requesting an appropriation for
~ 100,000 within the Emergency Medical Service Capital Improvement Fund
#288.
The purpose of this request is to purchase a used fire truck at a cost of
$82,500 and utilize the additional ~ 18,500 to make some minor modifications
and upgrade to reflect other South Bend Fire Department Apparatus.
By purchasing this excellent condition used pumper, it is approximately a
$200,000 savings in comparison to purchasing a new one.
Funds are available and I respectfully request your approval of this request. I
will be the presenter of this ordinance.
