Highlighted Activities: One of the primary activities of the Information and
Technology Committee was to review with the City Administration the staffing status;
hardware upgrades; priority and target timeliness;the software upgrades; and the website
redevelopment project. A multi-page handout discussing each of these items is on file in
the Office of the City Clerk.
The Committee received a power-point presentation from City Controller Frederick B.
011ett, III; the Director of Information Technologies Bob Allen; and PC Specialist Brent
Cummins in the Fall which focused on recommendation received from Crowe Chizek and
Company, LLC. Their recommendation addressed the proposed site map for the
Common Council website and the material related to the overall upgrade to the City of
South Bend's official website. Again, all of this information is available for public
inspection in the Office of the City Clerk.
The Information and Technology Committee is awaiting a further update on the
Council's website and the City's website, which had been projected by the
Administration to be available by the end of the 2004 calendar year.
Like some of the other Standing Committees, an ongoing challenge of the Information
and Technology Committee is to attract citizen members who have the interest and the
time to serve on this Committee.

Although the Information and Technology Committee did not formally receive
information on the proposed Metro Net project, with that presentation being made at a
December Informal Meeting of the Council, due to the very nature of that proposed
project, meeting may be schedule under this Committee in 2005 so that the Council is
aware of its overall operations and has the opportunity to have input.
