SUBJECT: PRESS RELEASE: COUNCILMEMBER HENRY DAVIS Jr. DATE: FRIDAY OCTOBER 8, 2021 CONTACT: COUNCILMEMBER HENRY DAVIS, JR., HDAVIS@SOUTHBENDIN.GOV, 574-300-5241 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Councilman Henry Davis, Jr., Councilwoman Lori K. Hamann, County Auditor Michael J. Hamann, and Black Lives Matter of South Bend- invites City of South Bend residents to a Walk- in Rental and Utility Assistance Clinic on Tuesday, October 12th from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Charles Black Center, located at 3419 West Washington Street. By offering a walk-in event, we hope to spread awareness about the Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) program and provide the opportunity for those who have internet and technology barriers to participate in the program. Program Info: St. Joseph County’s Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) program is designed to decrease evictions, increase housing stability, and prevent homelessness. The program helps with rent and utility payments for tenants whose income has been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. ERA can provide eligible tenants with up to eighteen (18) months of rental assistance. Utility assistance may also be provided to qualifying applicants for past-due utilities (electric, gas, water, sewer, and trash) and home energy (fuel oil, wood, coal, pellets, and propane) expenses.
