Regulations pertaining to the Historic Preservation Commission are
found in Chapter 21 (Zoning), South Bend Municipal Code and Chapter
26 of the St. Joseph County Code.
The issuance of this certificate does NOT in any manner, release
the recipient from the responsibility of complying with the requirements
of the zoning ordinances, building codes, safety codes, ADA or other
requirements of the City of South Bend, the County of St. Joseph, the
State of Indiana, or the United States Federal Government.
This certificate is good for one year from the date of issuance and
is effective from the date entered herein. Plans are on file and open for
public inspection at the office of the Historic Preservation Commission of
South Bend and St. Joseph County, 227 West Jefferson Blvd., Suite 1400

1.Replace second story door with window. The window will be 30x54, and built to match
the style and size of the other windows on the east side of the house. On the original
blueprint (attached) this was a window but when the house was split into two units the
door was added for fire safety.
2.Remove the second story deck. The deck was not original to the house. Replace any
needed siding with in-kind materials. The deck is also dangerously close to the power
lines and needs to be removed.
3.Repair front porch. The front porch has major roof leaks and has experienced some
settling. We would like to repair the porch to more closely match the original blueprints
(attached) and replace the roof.
There are 2 locations in the ceiling that leak when it rains.
Repair or replace soffits as needed
