HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-11-03 Informal Meeting SOUTH BEND COMMON COUNCIL AUGUST ll, 2003 INFORMAL MEETING The August 11,2003 Informal Meeting of the South Bend Common Council was called to order by Council President Karen L. White at 6:45 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting Room. The following Councilmembers were in attendance: James Aranowski 1St District Charlotte Pfeifer 2nd District Roland Kelly 3rd District Karl King 4th District Chairperson, Committee of the Whole David Varner 5th District Ervin Kuspa 6th District Sean Coleman At-Large Vice-President Al "Buddy"Kirsits At-Large Karen L. White At-Large President The following Councilmember(s) were absent: None Also present were: Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand Council Attorney Loretta J. Duda City Clerk Sandra M. Parmerlee Chief Deputy City Clerk Janice I. Talboom Deputy City Clerk Council President White reviewed the Council agenda noting the following information: 1. Bill No. 03-80 - Favorable from Zoning and Annexation Committee. 2. Bill No. 52-03 -Favorable from Zoning and Annexation Committee. 3. Bill No. 60-03 -Will need a motion to postpone until the August 25,2003 meeting of the Council at the request of the Petitioner. 4. Bill No. Bill No. 03-69 - Favorable from Zoning and Annexation Committee. Council Attorney Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand advised that some clarification needs -1- • -s SOUTH BEND COMMON COUNCIL AUGUST 11, 2003 INFORMAL MEETING to be made in regards to stipulations. It was noted that the designation runs with the land. 5. Bill No. 03-70 - Favorable from Zoning and Annexation. 6. Bill No. 03-71 -Will need a motion to postpone until the August 25,2003 meeting of the Council at the request of the Petitioner. 7. Bill No. 03-76, 03-83, 03-84, 03-85 and 03-86 - Favorable from Community and Economic Development. 8. Bill No. 61-03 - Will need a motion to refer to the Area Plan Commission. 9. Bill No. 62-03 - Set for Public Hearing on August 25, 2003 and send to the Community and Economic Development Committee. 10. Bill No. 63-03 - Set for Public Hearing on August 25, 2003 and send to the Community and Economic Development Committee. 11. President White advised that Mr. Bob Sante of the Area Plan Commission would like to meet on August 27th with at least two (2) Councilmembers to discuss the proposed zoning ordinance. Councilmembers Kelly, Coleman and Kuspa agreed to meet with Mr. Sante. 12. Councilmember King noted that there are two (2) more meetings scheduled with regards to tax abatement non-compliance issues. It was noted that all the meetings would be held before the Council meets as a Committee of the Whole to decide what to do. It was suggested that a criteria could be established.
