The May 13, 2002 Executive Session of the South Bend Common Council and Board of Public
Safety was called to order by Council Vice-President Karen L. White at 3:00 p.m. in the Council
Informal Meeting Room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members: Coleman, Aranowski, King, Varner, Kirsits,
White and Pfeifer;Police Chief Larry Bennett,Assistant Chief Richard Kilgore, Mayor Stephen J.
Luecke, City Attorney Charles Leone, Assistant City Attorney Thomas Bodnar, Assistant City
Attorney Cheryl Greene, Thadeus T. Zakowski and Elmer Carr of the Board of Public Safety;
Gary Gilot of the Board of Public Works, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney.
Council Vice-President White noted that the Executive Session of the Council and the Board of
Public Safety and the Board of Public Works was called pursuant to the Indiana state law which
permits Executive Sessions for the purpose of discussing strategy with respect to the Police and
Teamster negotiations.
Council Member President Karen L. White,as Vice-President of the South Bend Common Council
• hereby certifies that nothing was discussed in this Executive Session that was not properly posted
in the official"Notice of Executive Session"dated May 9, 2002(copy attached).
Council Vice-President White adjourned the meeting at 3:38 p.m.
