tottuttitt C teport <br /> VOW 'Works attb tiropizrty Vacation (ommitt e <br /> The October 14,2002 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee was called to <br /> order by its Chairperson, Council Member David Varner at 3:50 p.m. in the Council Informal <br /> Meeting Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Varner, Kirsits, Coleman, Aranowski, King, <br /> Pfeifer, Kuspa, and Kelly; Community & Economic Development Director Jon Hunt, Jim Frick, <br /> City Clerk Loretta J. Duda,Ann Kolata, City Controller Rick 011ett,Bill Salay, Terry Bland of the <br /> *Mai) vent( irrtblttt( and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney. <br /> Council Member Varner noted that the first item on the agenda was Bill No. 75-02 which is a <br /> request to vacate the first east/west alley south of Broadway Street from Michigan Street to the first <br /> north/south alley. <br /> Mr. Bill Salay of the Life Treatment Centers,Inc. with offices at 1402 South Michigan Street made <br /> the presentation. He provided a map and legal description of the area in question to the Committee <br /> (copy attached). Mr. Salay stated that the vacation is necessary in order to enhance the South <br /> Gateway Corridor and to enable the unused alley to be added to the green space in the area. <br /> Mr. Jim Frick, President of the South Gateway Association, spoke in favor of the proposed <br /> vacation. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Aranowski made a motion, seconded by Council Member <br /> King, that Bill No. 75-02 be recommended favorably to the Council. The motion passed. <br /> Under miscellaneous business, Mr. Frick inquired about the optical store rezoning which was <br /> asked to be fast-tracked. Council Member King noted that a petitioner for the rezoning was not <br /> present at the last Area Plan Commission meeting and therefore it will be heard at the October 15th <br /> meeting. Dr. Varner noted that he would talk with the petitioner and that this request should be on <br /> the Council's agenda for their next meeting. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Committee, Dr. Varner adjourned the <br /> Committee meeting at 3:55 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Council Member David Varner, Chairperson <br /> Public Works and Property Vacation Committee <br /> KCF:kmf <br /> Attachments <br />
