I ommitt* **port: <br /> erzonnei anb $tnalttrg (ammittu <br /> The March 11, 2002 meeting of the Personnel and Finance Committee was called to order by its <br /> Chairperson Council Member James Aranowski at 4:52 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting <br /> Room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Aranowski, Pfeifer, Varner, Coleman, White, <br /> Kirsits and Kelly; Jon Hunt, Carl Littrell, Beth Leonard, Terry Bland of the i5outb Neub <br /> tritium and Kathy Cekanski Farrand, Council Attorney. <br /> Council Member Aranowski noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 02-17 <br /> which is a proposed resolution which would authorize the Mayor to submit an application to the <br /> Indiana Commission on Community Service and Volunteerism for an Americorps Grant. <br /> Beth Leonard of Community and Economic Development made the presentation. She noted that <br /> the city is currently working with eleven(11) not-for-profit agencies. 37 members were requested <br /> and they are providing 27.5 full-time equivalents. <br /> In response to a question from Dr. Varner, Ms. Leonard noted that last year the city received <br /> $380,000 last year. <br /> Council Member White inquired about the overhead expenses for the program. Ms. Leonard stated <br /> that they spent$45,000 on overhead last year. <br /> Following discussion, Dr. Varner made a motion, seconded by Council Member White that Bill <br /> No. 02-17 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 02-18 which is a proposed resolution approving the <br /> issuance of scrap metal/junk dealers/transfer station licenses for 2002. <br /> Carl Littrell made the presentation. He noted that the owners of each location in the proposed <br /> resolution were advised of the proposed wellhead protection ordinance which is required under <br /> Rule 6 of the Clean Water Act. <br /> Following discussion, Dr. Varner made a motion, seconded by Council Member White that Bill <br /> No. 02-18 be recommended favorable to Council.
