The April 8, 2002 meeting of the Personnel and Finance Committee was called to order by its
Chairperson Council Member James Aranowski at 4:00 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting
Room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members Aranowski, Pfeifer, Varner, Ujdak, Coleman,
White, Kirsits and King; Gary Gilot, Director of Public Works and Kathy Cekanski Farrand,
Council Attorney.
Council Member Aranowski noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 02-30
which is a proposed resolution which would approve the issuance of scrap metal/junk
dealers/transfer station licenses for the calendar year 2002.
Mr. Gary Gilot, Director of Public Works, made the presentation. He noted that this is the second
resolution which lists the properties which have satisfied the city's requirements, with the
proposed resolution addressing three(3) properties.
Following discussion, Council Member King made a motion, seconded by Dr. Varner that Bill
No. 02-30 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed.
Dr. Varner inquired whether the city operates a transfer station, with this question being raised by a
member of the public at an earlier Council meeting. Mr. Gilot stated that the city did operate one at
one time. Mr. Gilot further noted that a state license is required for certain operations and the city
is working on this currently.
There being no further business to come before the Committee, Council Member Aranowski
adjourned the meeting at 4:07 pm
