The May 13, 2001 meeting of the Zoning and Annexation Committee was called to order by its
Chairperson, Council Member Karen L. White 4:51 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting Room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members Pfeifer, Kirsits, Aranowski, King, Varner,
Coleman,and White; City Controller,Michael Danch,Jeff Myers of Area Plan,Terry Bland of the
i+oUt b GrtbuUlz,and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney.
Council Member White noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Substitute Bill No.
15-02 which is a rezoning request for the property located at 103 North St. Louis Avenue and 619
East Washington Street.
Jeff Myers of Area Plan reported that the Area Plan Commission gave a favorable recommendation
to the proposed annexation and rezoning.
Michael Danch of Danch, Hamer & Associates made the presentation on behalf of the petitioner,
Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. Mr. Danch stated that the proposed rezoning is necessary in
order to provide twenty-six (26) parking spaces which will supplement the existing parking. The
area would have extensive landscaping. Mr. Danch then provided copies of a Preliminary Site
Plan of the area in question.
Council Member King noted that the area is within his Councilmanic District. In the discussions
which he has had all parties are pleased with the proposal.
Mr. Danch concluded his remarks by acknowledging that the petitioner has agreed to permit after
hours parking at this location.
Following discussion, Council Member Coleman made a motion, seconded by Dr. Varner that
Substitute Bill No. 15-02 be recommended favorably. The motion passed.
There being no further business to come before the Committee, Council Member White adjourned
the meeting at 4:55 p.m.
