The March 25, 2002 meeting of the Parks, Recreation, Cultural Arts and Entertainment Committee
was called to order by its Chairperson Council Member Sean Coleman at 4:53 pm in the Council
Informal Meeting Room.

Council Member Coleman noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 02-22
which would support an Urban Park and Recreation Recovery Grant application.
Council Member King noted that last year the Council received a detailed presentation on the
proposed renovation of Coquillard Park. Last year when a similar grant application was filed with
the National Park Service it received favorable comments however at the end of the process the city

year's application for grant assistance, which would require matching funds of $ 150,00 at the
local level.
Mr. Mark Bradley of the Park Department stated that the grant is requesting $ 500,000 in
assistance. The project continues to have lots of interest and support.
Mr. Phil Byrd, an NNRO representative, noted that he grew up in the area just east of Perley
School. He noted that NNRO and the Heritage Foundation are behind the project.
Council Member Coleman noted that a tremendous amount of positive effort has gone into this
project,and he supports the resolution.
Following discussion, Council Member King made a motion, seconded by Council Member
