Thanks for the quick reply! We are really excited to get started and to continue our work on
West LaSalle. My comments are in blue.
1. Replace the rear egress siding on the existing exterior door.
a. Replacing the door, or the siding? If door, what kind of door to be used? We are
repairing the siding and replacing the door. We are salvaging a solid wood craftsman
style exterior door.
2. Replace bay window with flat windows.
a. East bay (protrusion, with 16/1 windows), or North bay (by electric meter/rear door,
currently has 1/1 windows)? The North bay
b. What kind/manufacture of windows are you proposing to replace it with? We are
replacing them with either salvaged wood exterior windows or new historically
appropriate windows. We'll look for 1/1 to match what is there now or try to find 16/1
salvage to match the other windows on the house. We haven't chosen a brand yet
because we are hoping to find salvage.
3. Replace smaller windows on the lower left portion of the rear of the house with French doors
a. Please indicate where this will be on a diagram. see attached for placement of doors
and stairs
b. Will the basement windows be closed-up? The door will be over one of the basement
windows. But we do not plan to close the basement windows.
c. What kind/manufacture of sliding door are you proposing? We will find a salvaged or
new historically appropriate wooden exterior swinging French door with true divided
light.
d. Will there be steps, a porch/deck, etc? There will be steps down to the ground. Shown
as horizontal lines on the diagram.
4. Repair wood siding where needed and paint the entire house.
5. Repair damage to the roof.
6. Replace missing glass in the windows in the attic.
7. Repair front porch. Replace column and railings. Install new beadboard ceiling in burned out
section of the porch to the left of the front door.
a. This shouldn’t surprise you: talk to me about why you want to replace the columns. We
are only replacing the two columns that are missing. We will not replace the existing
columns. For the replacement columns, we will salvage partial matching columns from
620 W. La Salle.
Let me know if you need additional information. Just out of curiosity, which of the items
might need commission approval?
Thank you!

Jenni,
Super exciting project! Looks like there’s a few elements that I can administratively
approve, and there are a few that will need to be reviewed by the Commission. If you
answer the following questions corresponding to the application items, I’ll see about
breaking it up between the Commission and my review:
1. Replace the rear egress siding on the existing exterior door.

Hi Adam,
I hope your summer is going well so far and filled with lots of house renovation fun and
some travel :)
I am following up on the email that Sarah sent earlier this month about 701 W. LaSalle
COA. I've attached the application for the exterior work, a description of the work that we
have planned, and a plethora of photographs.
I will take care of payment by tomorrow. Let me know if you have any questions or other
items I can address.
Thank you!
