ORDINANCE NO. -77,5-8- 7
AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $525 , 000 FROM
THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND TO PROJECT
R&S 8702 PAVING MATERIALS .
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
In order to meet existing and proposed traffic demands and
to provide for safe and efficient movement of vehicles , certain
improvements are necessary. The improvements include paving
materials and other street repairs on various streets within the
City of South Bend.
Funds are now needed to pay for the cost of materials .
These funds are available from the Local Road and Street Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA.
Section I . The following sum of money is hereby ordered set
apart from the local Road and Street Fund for the project in the
amount set forth below:

Total Project $525 , 000 . 00
Section II : This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and
approval by the Mayor.

Re: Street Materials
Dear Councilmen:
Project R&S 8702 entails the purchase of materials for the
1987 Paving and Slurry Program. The funds are available within
the Local Road and Street Fund with the remaining balance after
this appropriation of $550 ,000 .
As you are aware, the proper maintenance of our streets
today reduces the need for more expensive and extensive repairs
in later years .
