AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $79,650. 00 FROM THE DEDICATED
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE FUND TO DEFRAY EMS RELATED
EXPENSES.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: Monies received by the dedicated
Emergency Medical Service Fund are now needed in order to make
payments due on a lease-purchase agreement and to cover the cost of
the remodeling of a kitchen at Fire Station No. 7.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I . The sum of $79,650 . 00 is hereby appropriated from
the dedicated Emergency Medical Service Fund, Fund No. 288, to be
administered by the Fire Department and distributed as set forth
below:
288. 000 . 16. 4399. 00 Other contractuals $63 ,650. 00
288.000 . 16. 4416. 00 Bldgs. , Stru. /Impr. $16,000. 00
Total $79,650 . 00
SECTION II . This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage by the Common Council and approval by
the Mayor.

Honorable Council Members :
In 1985, proposals were solicited for the remodeling of the
kitchen at Fire Station #7. The proposals were set aside as
being economically unfeasible at that time. It is absolutely
necessary to follow through with this project at this time
due to the very poor living conditions at Station #7. The
estimated cost of the kitchen project is $16 ,000.00.
Also, an amount of $63 , 650. 00 must be appropriated to Marquette
Leasing for the lease purchase payment on Quint #10.
Together, the two appropriations total $79 , 650. 00. There are
sufficient funds in the EMS C. I .F. to cover these appropriations.
