AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $290,000.00 FROM THE
1 NON-REVERTING FREDRICKSON PARK PROPERTY FUND TO
i ACCOUNT 399.0 CONTRACTUAL SERVICES, SAID ACCOUNT
BEING WITHIN THE FREDRICKSON PARK PROPERTY FUND
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
WHEREAS, funds were received from the Arthur A. Fredrickson
Will to help acquire land and develop a public park in the City
of South Bend and funds are now needed to start the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The Sum of $290,000.00 is hereby appropriated
from the Non-Reverting Fredrickson Park Property Fund and will
be administered by the Department of Public Parks and will be
distributed as set forth below:
04399.00 Contractual Services $290,000.00
SECTION II. That this Ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and
I approval by the Mayor.

Dear Members:
The South Bend Department of Public Parks is requesting the Common
Council to approve an ordinance appropriating $290,000.00 to the
Non-Reverting Fredrickson Park Property Fund.
The will of the late Arthur A. Fredrickson stated that the residue
of his estate after satisfying other conditions of his will, should
be used for the establishment, beautification, maintenance and full
equipment by the City of South Bend, Indiana by and through its Board
of Park Commissioners of a Public Park in said City to be named and
known as Fredrickson Park.
The Park Department used part of the funds to purchase 14.24 acres of
land in the 1300 block of South Bend Avenue at Jacob Street. The
Park Board will hire Cole & Associates to prepare plans and spec-
ifications for the Fredrickson Park. The Park Board will also hold
a public hearing for residents in the area of the proposed park to
receive input on the park development.
The Park Department has received a check for $150, 000.00 to get the
park project started this spring and will request the balance
(140,000.00) when needed to complete the park.
Your approval of this ordinance will be appreciated.
