AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $11,782.00 FROM
THE MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM IMPROVEMENT
FUND FOR PURCHASE OF SOUND SYSTEM
EQUIPMENT FOR USE AT THE MORRIS CIVIC
AUDITORIUM
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
The Morris Civic Auditorium is owned by the City of South
Bend and is managed under the dual control of the Century Center
Board of Managers and the Controller of the City.
The Century Center Board of Managers have determined that
it is in the best public interest to purchase equipment, as
described below, which was used to a limited extent at the
International Special Summer Olympics at the University of Notre
Dame and which is now being sold under favorable conditions.
The Morris Civic Auditorium is in need of improvement in
its sound system. Money is available for this purpose in the
Morris Civic Auditorium Improvement Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows:
SECTION I. The amount of $11,782. 00 is hereby
appropriated and ordered set apart out of the Morris Civic
Auditorium Improvement Fund for the purchase of the following
described sound system equipment.
One (1) DDA Mixing Console ( 24 channel) $ 7,425.00
Two (2) CROWN Tech 1200 Amplifiers 1,500.00
Four ( 4) CROWN D-150 Amplifiers 1,400.00
One (1) KLARK-TEKNIK Audio Delay Unit 1,050.00
Four ( 4) Mic Stands, Ten (10) Mic Cables 132.00
One (1) Audio Snake with Connectors 275. 00
$11,782.00
SECTION II . This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and
approval by the Mayor.

Dear Common Council Members:
Your prompt approval is requested on the ordinance for the purchase of special
sound equipment needed for the Morris Auditorium. It is desirable to purchase
this equipment now because of the substantial savings to be realized if we take
this action at once.
We believe that the Broadway Theater League, a major client of the Morris, will
reimburse the Morris Civic Improvement Fund a minimum of fifty percent(50%) of
the purchase price of $11,782.00.
