AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $230,000. 00 FROM THE
FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT FUND COMMONLY REFERRED
TO AS THE GENERAL REVENUE SHARING TRUST FUND
TO ACCOUNT 4399.0 OTHER CONTRACTUALS WITHIN SAID
FUND TO PAY THE CITY'S PORTION OF COSTS ASSOCIATED
WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF A DEMONSTRATION HYDRO
ELECTRIC PLANT ON THE ST. JOSEPH RIVER.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
Funds are needed for the City' s portion of costs associated with
the construction of a Demonstration Hydro Electric Plant in
conjunction with the State of Indiana. Monies are available within
the General Revenue Sharing Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. That the sum of $230,000.00 is hereby appropriated
from the Federal Assistance Grant Fund commonly referred to as the
General Revenue Sharing Trust Fund. This appropriation is to be
administered by the Department of Public Parks and will be
distributed as set forth below:

SECTION II. That this ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and approval

Dear President Serge:
The enclosed ordinance appropriating $230,000. 00 from the Revenue
Sharing Trust Fund is being filed for first reading at the June 22,
1987 Council meeting.
The monies will enable the City to pay its estimated share of the
costs for the Hydro Electric Demonstration Plant being constructed on
the St. Joseph River at Seitz Park. The State of Indiana has let
bids and awarded the contract to Reinke Construction Company of South
Bend, Indiana. The balance of the costs will be absorbed by the
Department of Natural Resources of the State of Indiana.
