Dear Council Member:
The attached bill for your consideration and approval will
appropriate additional CDBG funds recently released among CD
accounts. The appropriation will accomplish the following:
1 . When preparing the 1987 CDBG application, we reprogrammed
$13 ,000 from the Redevelopment Administration account in
anticipaton of an excess . The excess did not occur and $10 , 078
is needed to replenish the account.
2. Increase the Bureau of Housing administrative budget to cover
the costs of establishing the Housing Development Corporation
and purchase computer equipment.
3. Provide additional funds for the LaSalle-Fillmore and Northeast
Neighborhood Centers .
4 . Provide funds for administrative costs of the Neighborhood
Business Development Corporation.
5 . Allow funds for planning activities associated with the West
Washington area. The monies are to be used for surveys,
appraisals, studies, etc.

6 . Allocate the proceeds of NHS's latest house sale for additional
acquisition/rehab activity. This arrangement was made during
Council review of the 1987 CDBG application.
7. Allows additional funding for our financially strapped public
service projects. These agencies have suffered sharp cuts in
recent years from many of their funding sources.
