The meeting was called to order at 9:31 a.m.

2. Approval of Minutes
• Approval of Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Thursday, May 13, 2021
Upon a motion by Secretary Phillips, seconded by Vice-President Inks, the
motion carried unanimously, the Commission approved the minutes of the
regular meeting of Thursday, May 13, 2021.
3. Approval of Claims
• Claims Submitted for May 18 and May 25, 2021
Upon a motion by Vice-President Inks, seconded by Secretary Phillips, the
motion carried unanimously, the Commission approved the claims for May 18
and May 25, 2021 submitted on Thursday, May 27, 2021.

A. River East Development Area
1. Resolution No. 3534 (Rejection of Bids – Mishawaka Avenue 2520)
Mr. Netter Presented Resolution No. 3534 (Rejection of Bids – Mishawaka Avenue
2520). The Department of Community Investment is requesting a rejection of the
bid received from Palmer Funeral Homes for the sale of the former South Bend
Fire Station #9 at 2520 Mishawaka Ave. The City and Palmer Funeral Homes
were unable to come to an arrangement on a purchase agreement. As such,
Palmer Funeral Homes is no longer interested in pursuing the purchase of the
property. Commission approval is requested.
President Jones asked if this would go out to bid again.
Mr. Netter responded that we have had 3 other interested parties to date.
Upon a motion by Commissioner Warner, seconded by Secretary Phillips, the
motion carried unanimously, the Commission approved Resolution No. 3534
(Rejection of Bids – Mishawaka Avenue 2520) submitted on Thursday, May 27,
2021.
6. Progress Reports
A. Tax Abatement
1. Mr. Buckenmeyer noted that the Ward Bakery passed through Council
unanimously.
2. McCormick and Company by the airport will be investing $40M into their location.
The Council approved both a real and personal property tax abatement
unanimously.

1.Commissioner Warner asked about what the next steps for the Redevelopment
Commission meeting will be as to in-person or virtual.
Ms. Kennedy responded that we are expecting the Governor to extend the
restriction for the month of June. The COSB legal team is working on a draft
policy to the boards. Redevelopment Commission statues already state that we
are able to meet remotely as long as one member is present in-person. We
expect hybrid meetings to start in July 2021.
