Bids were opened and referred to the Engineer for tabulation for the following improvements, to=wit;- Walk & Curb on Miner street, Walk on Johnson street, Grade, Curb & Walk on Witwer avenue, Pipe Sewer on Fellows street, Pipe Sewer on Diamond avenue. Improvement Resolttion No. 254for sidewalks on Florence street. Rescinded. Petition referred to the Engineer for specifications for Walks on Johnson street from Bertrand street to Longley avenue.. The office of Night Janitor suspended with until time for firing the boilers in the Fall of the year. Clerk was�instructed to advertise for Bids for sewer and water connections on Arnold street, Elm street, Eddy street, Portage avenue, Lasalle avenue and Vistula avenue, bids to be received up to 10 A. Resolved, that notices as to the amounts of assessmentsbe published for six consecutive days in the South Bend Daily Times and the South Bend Daily Tribune, commencing on the 6th day of May, 1906, stating that.this Board will give a hearing on the amounts of such assessments at its office in the City Hall on the 23rd day of May, 1905 at 7:15 P. M. Resolved further, that the entire work under the above contracts be accepted and approved and the final estimate thereon allowed. Ward for Lot No. 30 in Sorden Lister's Sub -Division of Block 23 in Cottrel's Addition to Lowel now a part of the City of South Bend, said lot to be used for a public street. Application filed by Leonard Kalimiski for position as Inspector on City Work. I. I. & I. R. R. Co were notified to bring their tracks to grade at the intersection of Michigan avenue. M. President. TUESDAY EVENING SPECIAL SESSION AT 7:15 P. M. MAY 9TH9 1905. The Board met in Special Session at 7:15 P. M. All members present. Hearing given on Assessment Roll for awards of:damages and assessment of benefits in the matter of the condemnation of property for the opening of William street, under Condemnation Resolution No. 19, adopted on the 4th day of March, 1905. In the above matter a remonstrance was filed by Chas A. Nobile--Wilhelmina Ginz, by her attorney F. M. Jackson, remonstrated against the amount of her assessment --Caroline C. Matthews, by her attorney Daniel Rich, remonstrated against.the amount of her award. The Board find that the property affected is damaged and benefitted respectively in the amounts shown on the.assessment roll adopted on the 9th day of April, 1905. The Board therefore find that the above and all other remonstrances should be in all things over- rulled. The Board further find that the assessment roll adopted on the Sth day of April, 1905, should be and the same is hereby in all things, ratified, confirmed and approved. President. 2®6, W . Peter Suzio filed claim for allowances for extrawork incidental to construction of the Fassnacht avenue Trunk Sewer. The Board having under coftsideration the assessment of benefits and awards of damages in the condemnation proceedings brought under Condemnation Resolution No. 17 A., adopted on the 14th day of March, 1905, the Board find that the properties affected by said Condemnation are respectively damaged or benefitted in the amounts shown on the roll of awards and assessments made and agreed upon this 10th day of May, 1905, which roll of awards and assessments is made a port of this record. Resolved, that notices of amounts of said awards and assessments be personally served upon the owners of the properties mentioned, or proper notice given by legal publication in cases requiring such legal notice, stating that this Board will give a hearing of such awards and assessments at its office in the City Hall on the 27th r day of May, 1905, at 10 A. Application filed by Joseph Camfield for position as Inspector on City work. Petition filed for Pipe Sewer on Oak street from Scott stoeet to Cushing street. i 0 The Board met in regular session at 10 A: M, Mr. Nicar absent. Petition filed for Pipe Sewer on Sherman avenue from Michigan avenue south to Freubringer street. The Board having under consideration the change of curb on Arnold street and complaints of interested property owners the Engineer is ordered to change the specifications of said street from Ford street to Sample street to place the curb ten feet from the property line on each side. The Board having under consideration the amounts of benefits and damages in the Vistula avenue vacation under Resolution No. 25. The Board find that the property of Charles Vinson is benefitted in the sum of One Hundred Dollars and that of the Muessel Brewing Company in the sum of Fifty Dollars. Come how said Vinson and said Muessel Brewing Company e,nd waiving all hearing or notice of hearing in the matter, pay into the Treasury of this City the sums ao assessed and the Board declare said proceedings terminated. 209 The Board met in regular session at 10 A. Hearing given on Declaratory Resolutions for the following improvements, to -wit, - Grade on Portage avenue from I. I. & I. R. R. Viaduct to the City Limits, Grade & Curbs on Marietta street from Sample street to Pennsylvania avenue, Walk & Curb on Fisher street from Harris street to alley west of Harris street, Walk h Curb on Wayne street from Eddy street to Frances street, Walk & Curb on Quimby street from Eddy street to Frances street, sidewalks on west side of Eddy street from Wayne street to the Grand Trunk Western R. R. The Board therefore find in each and every case in said improvements that the benefits to the property and to the City of South Bend are equal to the estimated cost of said Improvements and the same are hereby in all things ratified, con -firmed and approved. Specifications for the Florence avenue sidewalk improvement wercamended by striking out the cement sidewalk on the north side of Florence avenue from Lincoln to Johnson street. a. In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were filed. To the Indiana Railway Company: You are hereby ordered and directed within thirty (30) days from the service hereof to remove all the poles uded by you in the operation of your railway or other- wise along that part of your tracks and line beginning at the intersection of the North line of Vistula avenue, as now established, and the west line of Leer street projected across Vistula avenue to the said north line thereof, and extending to the Denslow Culvert at Springbrook Park, which culvert is in and across Vistula avenue, and all within the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana, wherever the same (said poles) are within the road way proper or on the north curb line of said Vistula avenue as established, and shown by the plans, specifications and profile of the Vistula avenue Brick_ Pavement.Improvement approved and adopted by the Board of Public Works of said City oid the 29th day of March, 1905, and now on file in the City Civil Engineers office in said City, and also as shown and established by the stakes set by said Engineer, to which plans, specifications, profile and stakes you are hereby referred for more specific descriptions and indentification. Hammond, City Engineer: WHEREAS_at the,time of the final estimate on the Fassnacht Avenue Trunk Sewer Improvement there remained uncompleted some minor details, and the City of South Bend retained Fifteen Hundeed Dollars of moneys -due me to cover the cost of completing said minor details; and , WHEREAS there is still some of said work remaining. to be done and it is inconve nient for me at this time to superintend the same, I therefore authorize you to do what is necessary to be done in the way of cleaning up and completing the details thereof and charge the cast thereof to me, and I authorize the Board of Public Works, the City Comptroller and the proper officers of the City of South Bend to pay all costs and expenses which you may incur in so doing. Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana: That an improvement be made of the kind, size, location and terminal points as follows: Marion Boulevard and Navarre street in Hammond & Whitcombs Plat from the east line lot 60 in.the south side of Navarre street to the east line of lot 1 on Marion Boulevard by the construction of a cement sidewalk along and in fromt of lots 2 to 15 inclusive on the Boulevard and lots 15, 577 58 and 59 on Navarre street. All grading for the full width of the walk and lawn 20 feet on Navarre stree, shall done for a width of 14 feet on the Boulevard. Said improvement shall be known and designated as the MARION BOULEVARD AND NAVARRE STREET GRADE CURB & WALK and shall be constructed according to the plan- and specifications prepared by the City Civil Engineer, filed herewith. Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana: That am improvement be made of the kind, size, location and terminal points as follows: Grading Eddy street from South Bend avenue to the curb line on St. Vincent street_oing west and South line of St. Vincent street going east and constructing cement curbing and sidewalks.
