Chief of Police was notified to enforce the law as to fast driving over the
Jefferson street bridge as long as said bridge is a temporary structure.

Hearing can Taylor street Grade, Curb & Walk continued until Jan 20th, at 10 A. M.
City Comptroller authorized to return Certified Check of $100.00 to Harry N. Barnes
said check was deposited as a guarantee on the Emerson avenue Grade, Curb & 'Yalk.
I, Harry N. Barnes, do hereby certify that I have received of Fred W. IMartin,
City Comptroller, Certified Check for $100.00 as per the above certificate of the
Board of Public Works.

Quit -Claim Deed filed by Andrew Chilberg, et. al. to the Municipal City
of South Bend, for private alley.,Clerk was inst^ucted to have deed recorded.
W. N. Bergan submitted a proposition for a hay and wood market for the City at
$15.00 per month, sc,id property is located on the East side of the river.

Gentlemen;-- Provided there are any defects in the cement work put in last fall in
your contract with T. M. Bauer, I will personally see that such defects are corrected
free from expense of the property holders or to the City of. South Bend.

Gentlemen; --
Answer to your letter'of the llth inst. has been delayed until I could
consult with other members of our Board of Directors.
It is the desire and intention of this company at all times to provide for the
necessities of the public, and in the matter of an increased number of cars on our Chapin
and Hill street lines, we hope to be able to carry out the suggestion of your Board
by placing there ears.in this service as soon as the operation of the through line
can be established.
It was out intention not to attempt the operation of through cars on these lines
until the completion of the extension of Notre Dame avenue, as the present arrangement
would render the operation of the line unevenly balanced. It will hardly be possible
for us to give a well regulated service on this line with three cars in operation, until
our double track is connected across the river on Jefferson street; but this condition
will not deter us from placing three cars in operation and giving as good service as may
be possible until such time as our double track is connected up.

Hearing given on Grade & Curb on Vistula avenue from Kline street to
Ernsperger street, City Limits. Under Improvement Resolution No. 223.
Remonstrance filed by Ambros Major et al.
The Board find that the property assessed is benefitted to. the amount of
assessments as shown on said roll, and the Board accordingly find that the
a-sessment roll.filed the 20th day of December, 1904 and the final estimate allowed.
December 20th, 1904,_should be and the same ;s hereby in all things, ratified,
confirmed and approved.

The Board met in regular session at 10 A. M. All members present.
Engineer filed assessment roll and final estimate for the following improvements,-
Pipe.sewer on Van Buren street, Cottage Grove avenue, Allen street, Blaine avenue,
Cleveland avenue, known as the Cushing addition sewer. Also pipe sewer on Woodward
and DeMaude avenue, all under improvement Resolution Nos. 19S', 225 respectively.
Resolved that notices as to the amount of assessments be published for siz con-
secutivefdays in the South Beni. Daily Times and the South Bend Daily Tribune, stating
that this Board will give a hearing on the amount of such assessments at its office
in the City Hall on the 31st day of January 1905, at 7:15 P. M.
Resolved further, that the entire work under the above contracts be accepted
and approved and the final estimates thereon allowed. Notice of this resolution shall
be published on the 19th day of January 1905, in the South Bend Daily Times and the
South Bend Daily Tribune., stating that this Board will give a hearing on the acceptance
of such work at its office in the City Hall on the 31st day of January 1905 at 7;15 P. M.

Friday January 20th, 1905.
The -Board met in regular session at 10 A. M. All members present.
Hearing on Vacation resolution No. 34, vacating a part of Linden avenue, held ove.
until February 3rd, at 10 A. M.
Communication received from the Studebaker Bros Mfg Co, submitting a proposition
as follows,- That the haymarket which the city now rents for $20.00 per zonth, from
Feb. lst, 1905, will be $15.00 per month.
The Ingersoll Construction Co.., submitted a verbal proposition as to installing
amusements in the City Parks, such as a Roller Coaster or Laughing Gallery. Said
Company was instructed to submit a written proposition to the Board.
Hearing on Taylor street Grade, Curb & Walk, under Improvement Resolution No. 220
No remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were filed. The Board therefore
find that the property assessed in said rolls is benefitted to the amount of
assessments ac shown on said roll, and the Board accordingly find that the assessment
roll filed December loth, 1c.04, and the final estimate allowed December 10th:f; 1904
should be and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved.

Flats on E. Wayne street to the proper height.
Plats of Dubail's Sub. of a part of Dubail's Fourth Addition filed and approved.

and approved.

Petition filed by the Grand Trunk Western Railroad Company asking that the
Electric light at the Corner of Division street & -Michigan street, be changed from
the south side of the street to the North side of the street.
Bids were received and referrred to the Engineer for tabulation for the Pipe
Sevier known asthe Washington street Interceptor.
For the settlement of the Major Case on Vistula avenue see Page No. 2.32 for the
record of the proceedings.

Engineer filed assessment roll and final estimate for the following
improvement, to -wit: -
Trunk Sewer on Fassnacht avenue under Imp Res No. 163.
Resolved, that notices as to the amounts of assessments be published for six
consecutive days in the South Bend Daily Times and the South Bend Daily Tribune,
commencing on the 31st day of January 1905, stating that this Board_ will give a hear-
ing on the amount of such assessments at its office in the City Hall on the 7th day
of February, 1905, at 7:15 P. JA.
Resolved further, that the entire work under the above contract be accepted
and approved and the final estimate thereon allowed. Notice of this resolution shall
be published on the 31st day of January 1905 in the South Bend Daily Times and. the
