I ci a 4 -g& AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $18,000.00 FROM THE MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR PURPOSE OF COMPLETION OF THE SOUND REINFORCEMENT SYSTEM AND FOR REFINISHING THE STAGE DECK AT THE MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: The Morris Civic Auditorium is owned by the City of South Bend and is managed under the control of the Century Center Board of Managers. The Century Center Board of Managers has determined that it is in the best public interest to purchase and have installed sound reinforcement system equipment to complete the upgrading of the sound system at the Morris Civic Auditorium. The Morris Civic Auditorium previously purchased part of the equipment necessary to upgrade its sound system and this appropriation is for the completion for that project and money is available for this purpose in the Morris Civic Auditorium Improvement Fund. In addition, the Century Center Board of Managers has determined that it is in the best public interest to refinish the stage deck at the Morris Civic Auditorium and money is available in the Morris Civic Auditorium Improvement Fund for this purpose. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: SECTION I . The amount of $18,000. 00 is hereby appropriated and ordered set apart out of the Morris Civic Auditorium Improvement Fund for the purchase and installation of the following: (a) Sound reinforcement system $16,800.00 (b) Labor and materials to refinish stage deck 1,200.00 $18,000.00 SECTION II . This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. ME BER OF THE COMMON COUNCIL C)RT)/2 . , • ,, CENTURY cE \ TE .......Q August 18, 1988 TO: MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH BEND COMMON COUNCIL RE: MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM IMPROVEMENTS: REQUEST FOR ORDINANCE It is requested that you consider and give favorable approval to the ordinance appropriating $18,000. from the Morris Civic Auditorium Improvement Account (which is funded, as you know, by the auditorium's users). Some $16,800.00 would be earmarked to supply components and to complete the installation of the sound reinforcement system at the Morris Auditorium (In 1987 we appropriated $11,782. for the purchase of equipment used at the International Summer Special Olympics; this amount matched a grant from the Broadway Theater League). The remaining balance of $1,200.00 from this appropriation request would be adequate to refinish the stage deck and is recommended to be complete before the Auditorium's busy season is upon us in September.
