Assistant City Engineer SUBJECT: Contract Award – Trucks R Us Project No. 121-023 2021 Trucking of Biosolids for Land Application DATE: March 15, 2021 On March 9, 2021 the Board of Public Works opened and read unit price bids for the above project. The Division of Utilities and Division of Engineering reviewed the documents and finds the information correct and complete. Only one bid was received. The lone quote submission was provided by Trucks R Us. Of the M/WBE Contract goal of 16.9% (MBE = 6.4%, WBE = 10.5%), Trucks R Us has committed to M/WBE involvement of 10% MBE and 0% WBE. The Bids ranked as follows: Bidder Unit Price Bid “Per Truck Per Hour” 1. Trucks R Us $125.00 The Division of Utilities and Division of Engineering recommend Award of the contract for the 2021 Trucking of Biosolids for Land Application to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, Trucks R Us at the unit price bid of $125.00 per truck per hour. The total contract amount shall be issued as a not to exceed contract based on the 2021 Budget for Land Application. We kindly request that the Board of Public Works consider the approval of the subject contract at March 23, 2020 Regular Meeting. The MWBE Goal for the project was set at 16.9% per the bid documents. Trucks R Us has committed to a 10% project goal (per MWBE Form 1.0) and intends to employ Kennedy Expressline, Inc. to provide MBE trucking to supply vehicles to haul biosolids. Kennedy Expressline, Inc. assisted Trucks R Us during the 2019 and 2020 Land Application contracts. No WBE Trucking firms were identified in the bid. The Division of Utilities will appropriate sufficient funds from the Organic Resources, Contractual Services Other Account (641-06-605-515-439001). Upon final acceptance of the improvement by the Engineer, the Contractor’s final estimate will be presented to the Board for final Payment with one (1) copy of the Project Completion Affidavit and one (1) copy of a Waiver of Lien.
