Attention: Members of the Common Council
Dear Mr. Voorde:
As an entitlement city, the City of South Bend has received funds through
the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act of 1987 to fund homeless
shelter activities. A coalition of providers of services for the homeless
have joined forces and have developed a plan for a shelter/multi-service
center, which will be located at 805 S. Michigan St. The Council of
Providers of Services to the Homeless , Inc. (CoPOSH) , an Indiana not for
profit corporation, currently owns the S. Michigan St. property.
In order to assist in defraying a portion of the cost of adapting the
Michigan St. site to a shelter/multi-service center, the funds obtained
through the Emergency Shelter Grant Program will be allocated to CoPOSH by
the City of South Bend, if the attached ordinance is approved.
Your review of this matter is requested.
Should you have any questions , I 'd be pleased to answer them.
sincerely,
