Dear Honorable Council Members:
Attached please find a proposed amendment to the City of South Bend's
Zoning Ordinance. The purpose of the amendment is to designate the
Emmaus Evangelical Lutheran Church at 929 E. Milton as a local historic
landmark.
At its May 16, 1988 meeting, the Historic Preservation Commission moved
to send to the Common Council a favorable recommendation to designate
this church as a local landmark.
This will be the first time that a church has been designated as a local
landmark in South Bend. Designation is supported by the church's congregation.
We would appreciate your favorable consideration of this matter.
Respectfully yours,
