ORDINANCE NO. 7RX1 -8 AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $23 ,407. 00 RECEIVED FROM THE STATE OF INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES, EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANT PROGRAM STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: In order to deliver services to homeless individuals within our community, the City of South Bend received funds from the State of Indiana Department of Human Services for the delivery of such services through the United Religious Community of St. Joseph County, Inc. and the Youth Service Bureau of St . Joseph County, Inc. The funds appropriated in this ordinance will aid in defraying the cost of operating the shelter at 805 S. Michigan Street. The Youth Service Bureau will use the funds to pay rent and utility costs for their Safe Station. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend , Indiana : Section I. The sum of $23 ,407. 00 is hereby appropriated and allocated among accounts as set forth below: PROJECT NO. Voorde : The City of South Bend has received funds through the Emergency Shelter Grants Program which is administered by the State of Indiana Department of Human Services. These funds will be used to provide shelter and other services to the homeless in the South Bend area. A portion of the funds will be allocated to the United Religious Community of St. Joseph County, Inc. (URC) to defray part of the cost of operating the 805 S. Michigan St. site as a shelter/multi-service center. The remainder of the funds would be allocated to the Youth Services Bureau to pay rent and utilities at their Safe Station on Lincoln Way East.
