AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $100,257.74 FROM
THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND TO PROJECT
R&S 8801, RAILROAD CROSSING IMPROVEMENTS,
WITHIN THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
In the best interest of public health and safety, it is
necessary to improve railroad crossings at various locations within
the City of South Bend. Funds are now needed for the cost of
construction on this project. These funds are available from the
Local Road and Street Fund.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AS FOLLOWS:
Section I: The following sum of money is hereby appropriated
and ordered set apart from the Local Road and Street Fund for the
project in the amount set forth below:

Total Project $100,257.74
Section II: This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption by the Common Council and
approval by the Mayor.

Members of the Common Council:
The attached is a proposed ordinance requesting an appropriation
of $100,257.74 from the Local Road and Street Fund to be used
for Project 8801, Railroad Crossing Improvements. The City' s
share of these improvements is 10% of the construction costs
with 90% being paid with federal aid funds through the Indiana
Department of Highways. The improved crossings are:
Conrail @ 1600 S. Twyckenham $ 14,274.00
Conrail @ 1500 S. Prairie Ave 9,324.90
Conrail @ 1400 S. Olive St. 6,842.00
Conrail @ Olive & Washington St' s 22,600.00
GTW @ 500 S. Ironwood Dr. 8,884.00
Six Warning Devices Between
Ironwood & Miami 38,332.84
TOTAL CITY'S SHARE $ 100,257.74
