AN ORDINANCE INCREASING APPROPRIATIONS AND
REDUCING APPROPRIATIONS WITHIN THE VARIOUS
DEPARTMENTS OF THE GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH BEND INDIANA FOR THE YEAR 1989 .
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT :
Unforseen conditions have developed since the adoption of
the existing budget which necessitate the increase and reduction
of appropriations within the various departments of the General
Fund .
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of
the City of South Bend , Indiana as follows :
SECTION I . That the following accounts be adjusted as
described below :

Dear President Puzzello :
Attached please find for Council review and approval , an
ordinance increasing and reducing appropriations in the General
Fund . The primary purpose of this appropriation is to increase
our group insurance account which was underfunded during the
original budget process and reducing accounts in other
departments which can now projected to require less funding .
We are also increasing the Building Maintenance accounts
and reducing the Police Department accounts to formalize the
transfer of janitor services between those two departments .
We are also increasing accounts in the Engineering
Department to fund the purchase of upgraded computer equipment .
Funds have been received from the State of Indiana for services
provided by the Engineering Department on local state projects .
We anticipate making additional appropriations in the
General Fund as well as other funds towards the end of the year
at which time we will have a better sense of funds available .
