AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $42,000.00 RECEIVED
FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN
DEVELOPMENT, EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANT PROGRAM
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
In order to deliver services to homeless individuals within
our community, the City of South Bend received funds from the United
States Department of Housing and Urban Development for the delivery
of such services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the
City of South Bend, Indiana:
Section I . The sum of $42, 000.00 is hereby appropriated and
allocated among accounts as set forth below:

SECTION II . This ordinance shall be in full force and

Dear Ms. Puzzello:
A review committee of Providers of Services to the Homeless met
to evaluate the $75,128.00 of requests which were received by the
City in competition for the $42,000 . 00 available in Emergency
Shelter Grant funds. The following is the recommended allocations
of the funds:

runaway youth.

for the Homeless.

homeless individuals
and families.
United Religious Community 11,767.00 Operates shelter and
support services for
homeless individuals
and families.
