Attached for your review is a request on the behalf of Century Center for up to $50,000 for
improvements to the west entry. These funds will be matched by $150,000 from the Hotel -Motel
Tax fund. The improvements include new sliding doors to replace the old doors, along with new
concrete paving, canopy and accent lighting. Additional details are included in the attached request.
This is being presented to the Redevelopment Commission with a favorable recommendation for
your approval in an amount not to exceed $50,000.

RE: CENTURY CENTER WEST ENTRY IMPROVEMENTS
FUNDING REQUEST
Dear Don:
On behalf of the Century Center Board of Managers, ADG, Inc. is submitting this funding request to the
South Bend Redevelopment Commission for their review and approval.
The Century Center wishes to replace the existing West Pedestrian Entry steel hinged doors and framing
with a new automatic sliding door system, similar to the South Entry doors installed in 2010. Shifting and
settlement of the existing concrete slab and brick pavers causes the doors to bind, not allowing the doors
to operate safely.
The deteriorating physical conditions of the steel entry doors, paving, and drive -thru canopy have been
documented and included in the Century Center's Capital Plan 2012.
The Projected Costs of Construction are estimated at $200,000 and will include the necessary materials
and labor to complete the following Work:
• Complete removal and disposal of the existing steel structure, doors, and glass
• Installation of temporary security and weather protection
• Removal of the existing brick pavers
• Installation of new colored concrete paving (similar to South Entry)
• Installation of new steel tube framing (painted)
• Installation of new pre - finished curtainwall frame system
• Installation of new pre - finished automatic sliding doors /frame (4)
• Installation of new pre - finished manual doors /frame (2)
• Prep, patch, paint the existing exterior concrete columns
• Prep, patch, paint the existing exterior steel canopy framing
• Installation of new LED accent lighting to illuminate the existing exterior steel /glass canopy
The St. Joseph County Board of Managers for Hotel -Motel Tax has budgeted $150,000 towards the
Project for 2012. The Century Center Board of Managers total funding request is equal to the
$50,000 difference.
