DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT' S EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANTS PROGRAM STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: In order to deliver services to homeless individuals within our community, the City of South Bend received funds from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the delivery of such services through the Council of Providers of Services to the Homeless (CoPOSH) and the Youth Service Bureau of St. Joseph County, Inc. The funds appropriated in this ordinance will aid in defraying the cost of operating the Center for the Homeless and the Youth Service Bureau' s Safe Station. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana: Section I. The sum of $66,000 .00 is hereby appropriated and allocated among accounts as set forth below: PROJECT NO. DESCRIPTION AMOUNT COPOSH/ESG/90 Council of Providers of $46,000.00 Services to the Homeless YSB/ESG/90 Youth Service Bureau of 20,000.00 St. Joseph County, Inc. Total : $66, 000 .00 SECTION II. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and approved by the Mayor. These funds will be used to provide services to the homeless and youth at risk in the South Bend area. The funds will be used to defray part of the cost of operating the Center for the Homeless and at the Youth Service Bureau' s Safe Station. Your approval of the attached ordinance is requested.
