AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING URBAN DEVELOPMENT ACTION GRANT
FUNDS TO DEFRAY EXPENSES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION
AND FINANCE AND THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
Additional engineering services are needed because of
increased public construction resulting from tax incremental finance
projects. Urban Developemnt Action Grant money is available to fund
a position to provide such services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the
City of South Bend, Indiana as follows:
SECTION I. The amount of Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000) is
hereby set apart from Urban Development Action Grant funds to be
administed as follows:

4148.00 FICA $ 1,952.00
$ 3,288.00
DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING
4110.00 Salaries $ 26,712.00
$ 26,712.00
SECTION II. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage by the Common Council and approval by the
Mayor.

Dear President Zakrzewski:
Attached please find for Council review and consideration, an
ordinance appropriating UDAG funds to support an additional
Construction Manager in the Department of Engineering. Additionally,
we are requesting that funds be appropriated to the Controller' s
budget in support of the associated fringe benefits for the staff
person.
This position is needed due to the anticipated construction in
the Downtown area beginning this summer. We anticipate that funding
will be available to support this position for two years. Continued
support will be evaluated at the end of 1991.
I will be happy to answer any questions you or other members of
the Common Council may have regarding this ordinance. I will look
forward to discussing this in greater detail with the Council.
