Karen White, Chair of the Personnel &Finance Committee, opened the hearing
reminding the administration and fellow Councilmembers the importance of the budget
process emphasizing the thoroughness of the review and recommendation. She noted
eight separate budget hearings including 2 off.site to encourage public input had already
been held. Karen thanked the administration for their unprecedented openness and
willingness to hear and balance priorities outlined in the hearings. Karen asked Council
Attorney Kathy Cekanski-Farrand to explain budget procedures from here. Kathy
explained deadlines for Council action specified by state law noting tonight's
consideration was to solicit additional input,not for a final vote. City Controller Mark
Neal offered that the Council's deliberations were much appreciated and expressed a
continuing willingness to respond to Council questions.
There being no further business to come before the Personnel &Finance Committee at
this time, Chairperson White adjourned the meeting at 4:38 p.m.
