WITH HURRICANE SANDY RELIEF EFFORTS
South Bend Fire Fighters, Police Officers Help with Recovery Efforts in Wake of
Hurricane Sandy
SOUTH BEND Firefighters from the South Bend Fire Department departed on Sunday
for Atlantic City,New Jersey and Ocean City,Maryland to assist local first responders
with storm damage recovery efforts.
The state of New Jersey made a request for a task force to be deployed to assist with
emergency response calls. The City of South Bend Fire Department deployed an
ambulance attached to a task force headed to Atlantic City,New Jersey on Sunday to help
local authorities with responding to ambulance calls and providing EMS support for rescue
activities. These crews will remain deployed in New Jersey until the end of this week.
An additional three fire fighters were deployed with the District 2 All Hazards Incident
Management Team because of a request by the state of Maryland. These crews are
providing emergency management support for an area around Ocean City,Maryland.
This deployment is scheduled until November 11 unless extended at the request of state
of Maryland.
