A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,INDIANA, PUBLICLY
COMMENDING AND HONORING SISTER SUSAN KINTZELE,C.S.C.,FOR HER COUNTLESS
CONTRIBUTIONS FOR THE BETTERMENT OF OUR COMMUNITY
Offeemad, the South Bend Common Council is proud to recognize that Sister Susan Kintzele, C.S.C. was one of eleven
Sisters of the Holy Cross who celebrated their jubilee years in Holy Cross this Summer, with Sister Sue celebrating her Golden
Jubilee having made her First Profession in 1962; and
Offemtga, the Common Council notes that for the past 52 years, Sister Susan Kintzele, C.S.C., has diligently and
compassionately worked on behalf of the poor and disadvantaged throughout our city in countless community service outreach
programs; and
since 1975, Sister Sue has served as the Director of the Bail Bond Project, and can be seen almost on a daily
basis counseling many persons in and around the St.Joseph County Courthouse and throughout downtown South Bend; and
Olifierea, as a trained Pastoral Counselor, who earned her undergraduate degree from Saint Mary's and her Master's
from Notre Dame in mathematics, Sister Sue donates her time and many talents to countless boards and commissions some of
which include overseeing the LaSalle Park Homes, Dismas House of Michiana,the YWCA, JJC's Pastoral Advisory Board,the
Parish Council of St.Augustine Church,the Justice and Peace Center,and the DuComb Center of St. Joseph County; and
OHS Sister Sue was one of the leaders who spearheaded the raising of over$200,000 to support the mission of Saint
Mary's College's Office for Civic and Social Engagement, a nationally recognized resource center which facilitates St. Mary's
volunteer efforts in the community; and
6licomms, Sister Sue has been honored for her dedicated work & service as part of the Prisoner Re-Entry programs,
"Companions on the Journey", & received the T. Brooks Brademas Lifetime Achievement Award for over 35 years of
ministering to inmates-just to name a few of her many honors&awards,while she continues to teach math at IU South Bend.

Weeton I. On behalf of all of the citizens of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council honors, publicly
commends and congratulates SISTER SUSAN KINTZELE, C.S.C., a native of Michigan City for her many, many
deeds of kindness and in particular for carrying out along life's journey to "work collaboratively to forge just
political, economic and social structures in solidarity with impoverished and excluded persons".
Oreeffo II. Sister Sue's work in prison ministries provides hope in times of despair and "encouragement to
those who need it". Perhaps one of the most telling of all of Sister Sue's many attributes is the time she spends as a
godmother to 15-year old Annie Johnson, a sophomore at St. Joseph High School, who she has helped raise since
Annie's infancy, who she affectionately calls "The Village Child".
WayaoPre, III. The South Bend Common Council is humbled to publicly salute and honor a special 71-year old
Sister of the Holy Cross, SISTER SUSAN KINTZELE,and hopes that her life's journey continues to be filled with
