AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $279 ,937 .00 FROM
THE MOTOR VEHICLE HIGHWAY FUND FOR EQUIPMENT
AND TO REINSTATE THE REDUCTION IMPOSED BY THE
STATE TAX COMMISSIONERS
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
To reinstate the State Tax Commissioner' s reduction imposed
during last November' s budget hearings and to purchase 4 compactors
and a forklift . The Tax Commissioners made reductions to the 1991
budget due to the uncertainty of consistent Gasoline Tax Revenues .
The actual revenue received through June of this year is well above
the Commissioner' s estimate. These funds are currently available in
the Motor Vehicle Highway Fund. The cash balance in this fund on
June 30 , 1991 was: $641, 408. 41.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AS FOLLOWS :
Section I . The following sum of money is hereby appro-
priated and ordered set apart from the Motor Vehicle Highway Fund
for the items set forth below:

Dear Mr. Niezgodski:
I am attaching a substitute version of the above-referenced
bill. The original bill identified the "Salaries, Regular" account
as Number 202.0607. 431,1001, rather than as Number
202. 0607. 431.1002. This substitute bill corrects that error.

Dear Council Members:
The attached is a proposed ordinance requesting an increase in
appropriations in the Motor Vehicle Highway Fund. The primary
purpose of this ordinance is to reappropriate the budget reduction
imposed by the State Tax Commissioners during last year' s hearings
and appropriate necessary funds for equipment needs.
The total requested increase in appropriation is $279,937. The
State Tax Commissioner' s reduction is $266,837. The equipment
requested costs $13,100.
Your favorable consideration of this proposed ordinance is
requested. Should you have any questions regarding this
