HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-12-05 Public Works & Property Vacation • t The Public Works and Property Vacation Committee of the South Bend Common Council Minutes from Meeting of December 12, 2005 The December 12, 2005 meeting of the Common Council's Public Works and Property Vacation Committee meeting was called to order by its Chairperson David Varner at 4:45 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting Room. Persons in attendance included Council Members Pfeifer, Kelly, Puzzello, Kuspa, Rouse, Kirsits and White. Among those also present were City Clerk John Voorde, City Engineer Carl Littrell,City Community and Economic Director Sharon Kendall,Building Department Director Don Fozo,Water Works Director John Stancati,Public Works Director Gary Gilot,Controller Catherine Fanello, Jamie Loo (South Bend Tribune), and Aladean M. DeRose substituting for Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, Council Attorney. A full quorum of the Committee existed in that all members were present, namely Council Members Varner, Puzzello, Rouse, and White Bill No. 87-05 - To Vacate a Portion of Kenwood Avenue, Linden Avenue, Lawton Avenue and Four Nearby Adjacent Alleys (Substitute) Mr.Bernard Feeney presented this(Substitute)Bill to the Committee on behalf of the Robert Bosch Company. The property owner(Bosch) seeks to vacate an area South of Bertrand and West of Mead Street extending from the renovated portion of Mead Street. Mr.Feeney explained that this is a wrap-up part of the process which began a year ago. The area sought to be vacated is where houses had been situated. City Community and Economic Development Director Sharon Kendall confirmed that this is near the end of what has been an ongoing process, and that the Board of Public Works had given this petition a favorable recommendation. No members of the public spoke for or against this Bill, and Council Member Rouse moved to send Substitute Bill 87-05 to the full Council with a favorable recommendation. The motion was seconded by Mr. Varner who commented that the project looks good. The motion passed unanimously.
