Purpose of Request:
This budget request is for $150,000 from the River West TIF district, to cover the cost of roof
repair and replacement at the former Salvation Army building. The City received bids for the
work, and the costs exceeded the funds already available. The main issue stems from unforeseen
material removals associated with the upper two-story roof system, resulting in much higher
demolition costs.
Due to the age and construction materials used on the roof, partial repairs and patches are no
longer feasible. The entire upper roof portion must be replaced down to the structural concrete
slab supporting the roof. The completed roof would have a warranty of 20 years.
