These are to include three 4-wide and one 2-wide casement style windows in the North addition. It is important to note that this does not include any windows in the original house, only in the family room which was added sometime in the 1960’s. It appears that great care was taken in blending the addition with the existing house without mimicking the (100-year-old plus at the time) original details. Nowhere is that more apparent than with the windows, which are of a different style and proportion, while still attractive and not at all out of place. The O’Connors wish to upgrade to a more energy-efficient and functional window, and we proposed to replacement with Andersen 100 Series Fibrex composite windows, of the same style, color, and size. A key factor in this decision was the 100 Series availability of Finelight Grilles with an Exterior Grille component. This will allow for easier cleaning on the inside while keeping a divided-light look on the outside, consistent with the original house and later additions. The windows would be full replacement, not pocket-style, Low-E glass, and Energy Star Certified. I would be happy to answer any other questions you may have, by phone or E-mail. We are working with Tom regarding the upgrade of our windows on the addition on the north side of the house at 53190 Juniper Rd South Bend. We need to upgrade these windows to a more Energy‐efficient unit. The windows being replace are on an addition built on to the house in the 1960’s, and will match the room on the south end of the house. This work does not effect the “historic” part of the house. The house and property have been in my family, the O’Connors, for nearly 70 years. We are always mindful in keeping the historic nature of the house maintained, and have worked closely with the Historic Preservation Commission. Attached below is the COA form. I have copied Tom Morris and my wife Joan O’Connor. Please let us know if you need anything else. I changed our address to the Indiana address and signed it. See new copy attached, along with my letter to the HPC, Andersen 100 Series Info, and pictures. The only other thing I can think of that might help is a short write‐up of your reason for wanting the windows replaced and why restoration doesn’t make sense in this case. You could forward all of this to Adam Toering <atoering@southbendin.gov> and put the reason in your Email. Let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to change, or if you want me to send it. 2 Thank You, ‐Tom Tom Morris Exterior Arts, LLC 574.222.8022 To help protect your privacy, Microsoft Office preventeddownload of this picture from the Internet.
