Agenda: 2021 Budget Overview
Committee Chair White called the 2021 Budget Overview meeting to order at 5:00 nm. She
introduced members of the committee and the council then proceeded with the meeting.
Committee Chair White went over the meeting agenda and proceeded to introduce Mayor James
Mueller. Mayor Mueller with offices on the 14`h floor of the County -City building, South Bend,
IN, shared a presentation concerning the budget going forward for 2021.
Committee Chair White offered the floor to the Councilmembers to ask question's of the Mayor
concerning his presentation on the budget.
Councilmember Lori Hamann proceeded to ask a question about the budget presentation. The
Mayor answered Councilmember Hamann's question. He proceeded to offer the floor to Dan
Parker to answer the question in more detail.
Councilmember Troy Warner asked a question concerning the budget presentation the Mayor
offered. The Mayor responded to Councilmember Warner and answered the question.
Committee Chair White moved the meeting forward for other departments to start their
presentations for the night. She handed the meeting over first to Dan Parker, the City Controller.

Dan Parker, City Controller with offices located on the 12th floor of the County -City Building,
South Bend, IN, opened his presentation addressing the format for the budget hearings the
remainder of the season. Mr. Parker continued to present a 2020 year recap of the budget and
goals for year 2021. Mr Parker handed the meeting over to the Public Works department.
Eric Horvath, Director of Public Works for the City of South Bend, with offices located on the
13th floor of the County -City Building, served as a presenter. Eric gave a presentation on Public
Works for the year 2021 budget purposes.
Chief Keith Lancaster from the South Bend Police Department gave his presentation for years
2020-2021 budget information.
Chief Daryl Buchanan from the South Bend Fire Department gave his presentation for years
2020-2021 budget information.
Committee Chair White asked Mr. Parker after the Fire Department's presentation was
done how many more presenters they have for the evening. She suggested ending the
presentation part of the meeting now, so there will be a few minutes for questions. President
White also stated they will pick up where they are at, at the next Budget Hearing meeting on
August 19, 2020.
Committee Chair White opened the floor to the Council members for questions and comments at
this time.
Councilmember Lori K. Hamann and Councilmember Sheila Niezgodski each asked a question
of Eric Horvath concerning the Public Works budget. Mr. Horvath proceeded to answer their
questions.
Committee Chair White proceeded to thank everyone for their hard work and offers the floor to
Dan Parker and Mayor Mueller for closing comments.
Mr. Parker and Mayor Mueller each thanked everyone for their time and
work put into the presentations.
President White gave a final thank you and adjourns the Budget Hearing meeting at 6:58 nm
