Since March meetings have been held virtually, council has reviewed parking issues around downtown and Eddy Commons. These have been addressed and students may notice the difference. Public health concerns around the coronavirus are being addressed, police reforms and a police complaint board are being discussed, and the budget meetings for 2021 begin for council. NOTRE DAME UPDATES/CONCERNS: Tim Sexton gave an update concerning the status of COVID procedures put in place on the campus of The University of Notre Dame. Notre Dame will open on August 10th. They developed a campaign called HERE. The campaign means here on campus we wear masks, here we adhere to social distancing. Tim Sexton shared the campus is putting perimeters up for South Dining hall, visitors on campus, events, and sports. Leah Kicinski- Reported on campus housing for the University of Notre Dame. She stated a resource available is www.offcampus.nd.edu for landlords and students. Jay Brandenberger- Reported volunteer opportunities will be limited on campus. Sarah Galbenski- Campus has added extra measures to distancing between classes. Rachel Ingal- Reported further innovation is needed when it comes to helping in the community concerning student activities. HOLY CROSS COLLEGE UPDATES/CONCERNS: Andrew — Reported on COVID procedures for Holy Cross Campus. He stated campus opens August 10th and classes end November 20th. The campus will promote the formation for our students as scholars, citizens, leaders, and disciples. This applies on campus and going out into the wider community. SAINT MARY'S COLLEGE UPDATES/CONCERNS: No one present from this campus INDIANA UNIVERSITY SOUTH BEND UPDATES/CONCERNS: Andrew Pinto- Reported their campus committee of seven (7) working groups put together health and safety guidelines for IUSB. All students, faculty, and staff will have face masks provided and rigorous cleaning protocols are in place. Classes start August 24tH Tom Stevik- Reported IUSB will limit visitors on campus and events that take place on campus are postponed. Campus will be at eighty (80) percent capacity. Rachel Tomas -Morgan opens the meeting for questions or comments. Lori K. Hamman asked the campus representatives if they anticipate more students living off campus than on campus due to COVID concerns. Holy Cross responded first to the question and stated ninety (90) to ninety-five (95) percent occupancy without their numbers seeing much change. Tom Stevik at IUSB stated they are at eighty (80) percent. Campus will be one occupant per bedroom, and they do not see significant change in this direction. Tim Sexton stated The University of Notre Dame on campus housing will be full. There will be no study abroad this year, those students will be living on campus. Steve Hayes stated let's deliver a message that is accordance to the HERE campaign and not leave room for students to wear a mask if they do not want to. Notre Dames signs are a good start, but more consistent actions need to be seen by off campus actions. Steve Hayes asked does the statement communication on campus include all students. Tim Sexton replied it does mean communication with off campus and on campus students. RESIDENTS/NEIGHBORS UPDATES AND CONCERNS: Pam Claeys- Reported there are challenges with campus maintenance at IUSB. She is hopeful with new administration and good communication these challenges will begin to get better. .In terms of parking, there is residential parking in the neighborhood. She stated a reminder to IUSB that the parking fines are fifty dollars so please let the students know. She reminded everyone that the Neighborhood association plans are cancelled. CITY OF SOUTH BEND UPDATES/CONCERNS: Rachel Tomas -Morgan asked a question to either Holy Cross or the University of Notre Dame to give an update about the Police Station on Eddy street. Tim Sexton answers the question stating he believes that location to be up and running. Geovanny Martinez- Reported the location on Eddy Street concerning sub -station for Police Department is not up and running. There is not a specific timeline set for the station to be active due to current COVID concerns. Rachel Tomas -Morgan asked if it would work for the upcoming meetings to be held on the first Tuesday or Wednesday of the month, meeting every other month, at 3:30 or 4:00 p.m. All replied yes. The next meeting is planned to meet in the month of August and then October. Tentative virtual meeting for December.
