The Morris Performing Arts Center desires to make certain capital improvements that will enhance its status as an efficient, updated, performing arts facility. These proposed capital expenditures include $12,500 for new computers for the Morns Box Office to replace outdated equipment and allow us to operate current upgraded ticketing software to better serve our patrons; $10,000 for a frequency drive that will replace the frequency drive in the air distribution system which recently failed after five years of service; $8,000 for concrete curb repair and adjustment at the Morris' stage loading docks to better accommodate production event tour buses and trucks; $5,000 to paint/color the lettering in the Morris Performing Arts Center's precast concrete panels located at the top rear of the building to improve the signage and help market the facility; $2,500 for hazardous material storage cabinets; $2,250 for five 2-way radios to improve facility communications and security support during events; and $1,750 to purchase a high speed burnisher for waxing and polishing the terrazzo flooring throughout the Moms Complex. The Common Council has determined that it is in the best interest of the City of South Bend to appropriate the requested funds from the Morris Civic Improvement Fund (Fund 416) for the requested purchase of new and upgraded equipment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: Section I. The following sums of money are hereby appropriated and ordered set apart from and within the Morris Performing Arts Center Improvement Fund for the purchase of necessary equipment and licenses. Karl King Chairman .~ PERFORMING ARTS CENTER July 3, 2003 Ms. Kazen White President, South Bend Common Council 435 County-City Building South Bend, IN 46601 Re: Morris Performing Arts Center Capital Improvement Appropriations Ordinance Dear Ms. White, I attach for filing with the South Bend Common Council an Ordinance requesting an appropriation of $42,000 from the Morris Performing Arts Center Improvement Fund (Fund 416). Revenues from this fund are generated by a ticket surchazge and the fund is used exclusively for facility capital improvements such as renovation, remodeling, repairs and equipment purchases. The improvements for which the Morris Performing Arts Center now desires the appropriation from Fund 416 consist of the following: $12,500 Box Office Computers: Four new desktop computers and one server to replace outdated equipment. Items are needed in order to operate current upgraded ticketing software. $10,000 Frequency Drive: Replacement of the computer board frequency drive that handles the air distribution system for the Morris complex. $ 8,000 Concrete Curb Repair/Adjustment: The concrete curbs at the Morris' stage loading docks must be adjusted to properly accommodate production event/artist tour buses and trucks. $ 5,000 Painting: InfilUcoloring of the Morris Performing Arts Center's lettering in the precast concrete panels located at the top rear of the building facing Main Street to improve the signage and help market the facility to the vehicular traffic traveling south on the roadway. These items must be properly stored per OSHA Safety Regulations in hazardous materials cabinets. $ 2,250 2-Way Radios: Five New radios are needed to improve facility communications and security support during events. $ 1,750 Floor Burnisher: A high-speed burnisher is needed for floor waxing and polishing in order to properly maintain the terrazzo flooring located throughout the Morris Complex. The Morris Performing Arts Center requests the Council's approval of this Ordinance that will benefit the City and its citizens. Sincerely, o Dennis J.
