Good Evening Venues Parks & Arts Board Members,
My name is Emmie Pica and I am a senior at Penn High School. I have been a member of Girl Scout Troop 30023 since Kindergarten. I love scouting because It is fun and it gives me an opportunity to be actively involved in my community. As a bronze project our troop installed two
player benches at the Echo Soccer fields, as a silver project our troop made new Mom baskets and provided some of the food for the Hannah’s House picnic. I have completed my Girl Scout journeys and I am ready to start my Gold Project. The gold project is the highest rank a Girl Scout can earn.
I chose Kennedy Park in South Bend simply because there are many neighborhoods surrounding the park and there is no library within walking distance in that area. There are many
people helping me accomplish this project such as my mom, Mrs. Roush, Nick Gaul and Mrs. Veal.
My goal is to complete the project by Spring of 2021. I plan to get book and monetary donations from my troop, friends, family and businesses. Goodwill is also willing to work with me, will donate and restock books and will handle damages that occur to the box. Lowe’s is working with
me on the wood for the actual box. I have included below a picture of the potential location in Keenedy Park for the Book lending Box and a blue print of what is required to complete the build.
