Purpose: Interview Marcia Janes -applicant for re-appointment to the South
Bend
Redevelopment Commission
Attendance: Councilmembers Rouse, Dieter, Pfeifer, Kelly, Puzze~lo, Varner,
Kuspa, White and Kirsits
Chairperson Karen White opened the meeting at 5.50 p.m., stating tie p~ rpase of
the meeting and then asked Marcia Jones to explain her reason for wanting re-
appointment. Marcia said she wanted to help newly appointed Redevelopment
Director Jeff Gibney. She said she enjoyed her past service on the Commission
which she regards as a good board, diverse in talents and uniformly dedicated to
their role in ecanamic development. She described the good rapport the board has
with the staff and suggested a desire for a more acfiive relationship with the City
Council. Chairperson White and Counci~mernber Pfeifer encouraged mare dialogue
with the Commission as well. David Varner asked when minutes of Commission
meetings held on the 1ST and 3~d Fridays of each month are available.
Councilmem er Pfeifer asked if consideration had been given by the Commission to
change the meeting time, perhaps a [owing more public par icipatian. Marcia said
while not presently under review, in that she is mindful of representing Council views,
would see that tote matter ~s discussed. Tim Rouse expressed appreciation for that.
There being na further questions, Chairperson Vllhite adjourned the meeting at G:05
p.m.
