HomeMy WebLinkAboutEagle Project InformationI am Gabriel Dawson, and I have been involved in Scouting for about 11 years. I started as a tiger cub when I was in first grade. This means I have worked towards becoming an Eagle Scout
for a long time. My motivation for earning Eagle is that I have put a lot of my effort and energy into the Scouting program for a long time, and I would hate that to go to waste. Currently,
I am at the point in the Eagle process that I need to settle on a project. I have chosen to work with the Parks Department because I have grown up in the city and always enjoyed the
parks that it has to offer. I would like to make improvements to this particular park, because currently there is not very much there, and it could use some livening up. I also know
that with being located near the Scout Office, a project might benefit them as well, which I like. The project would be constructing six park benches to be placed in the park, 4 would
go along the trail, and 2 would sit on a deck that overlooks a pond there. I have been introduced to both Amy Roush and Nick Gaul, and they both like the idea of the project. The Facility
and Grounds team has also approved both the design and the concept. This is the design for the benches that everyone has settled on:

I feel that this project will make the park more enjoyable for those who visit it, and provide a nice place for people to sit and rest while moving along the trail, or while enjoying
the view overlooking the pond. I would be funding this project by typing up a description of my project, a blueprint of the benches, what the project is for, and why I need help raising
funds to make it happen. I would mail this to family, family friends, people I know through scouting, and some of my personal friends, and I would include a return envelope incase someone
felt they wanted to assist me in funding this project. I feel that by doing this, I would be able to raise
enough money to cover the project costs. Once the project is funded, and materials and tools have been acquired, it will be time to construct the benches. I feel that constructing the
benches will take no more than two weeks. Considering waiting for the approval process, the time it will take to fundraise, the time to acquire materials and tools, and the time of
construction, I expect to have the project completed by mid August to September of this year.
