6. -Committee-Reports
City Survey
Mr. Stamper stated that his staff is trying to meet the September
30th deadline; however we may be sending only the A,nventory lists
and survey cards at that time, and sending the negatives a month
later.
A suggestion was made by Ruth Price regarding taking the information
on the 14 potential districts and sending it to the H.C.R.S for
review. This is to enable the Commission to make proper decisions
on Historic District recommendations. The matter was set aside for
further discussion.
Budget and Finance
Ted Wasielewski stated that there has been no response from the city
as.of yet on our budget requests.
Historic Districts and Standards
Several changes were made and noted in the Historic Districts and
is
Standards Guideline book.
Historic Land marks and Standards
Landmark designation for 5450 South Miami Road was brought
forth in a motion made by John Oxian and seconded by Charles Hayes.
The commission approved the motion.
Mr. Oxian also made a motion to give landmark status to.'815 Arch
v Avenue. Joann Sporleder seconded the motion. The commission approved
the motion, with Charles Hayes abstaining.
Public Relations and Community Education
The house plaques issue was given to the Public Relations and
Community Education committee for further research.
Ruth Price suggested to the P.R.C.E. committee that consideration
should be given to the idea of bringing a guest speaker in, such as
Tom Huston, speaking on the Tax Act and How to Use It., and inviting
interested parties.
Environmental Impact Statement
Mr. Oxian read the Environmental Impact Statement which was written
for McDonough Engineering regarding the Pierce Road Project (see
• report) .
Mr. Stamper read a request from the City Controllers Office for the
commission to prepare an E.I.S. for the proposed Ethanol Plant
on CAlvert Street. A review 6f the City Survey indicated that there

would be no impact on any h.istor.i:c.s:ites or structures. Mr. Oxian
pointed out the railroad roundhouse in the 1600 block of Olive,
which will be added to the survey, but will not be impacted by
the proposed construction.
Presidents Report
The president had nothing to report on at this time.
Staff Report
John Stamper asked the commission to retain th.e summer 'intern,
Jeanette Burkett, until December 30, 1980, on a 10hour per week
basis. Ted Wasielewski made the motion, Ruth Price seconded.
The commission approved the motion. A letter will be written to
the county,commissioners.requesting funds for the intern contract.
Registration for the National Trust Convention will be paid for
commission member; John Oxian and Ruth Price.,aid commissionr,
planner John Stamper. Charles Hayes made the motion with John Appleton
second. The commission approved the motion. Ted Wasielewski will
accompany Mr. Stamper to make the request to the county commissioners
for registration funding.

A motion by John Oxian was made to strike Resolution number 4.
Ruth Price seconded. The commission approved the motion.
Another motion was made by John Oxian to purchase the book:
VICTORIAN HOME BUILDING, A TRANSCONTINENTiAL VIEW.
F.J. Nimtz seconded, and the commission approved the purchase.
8. New Business
Mr. Oxian suggested that:a general handout consisting of four points
should be used when a resident considers repair or new construction
on his or her home. Charles Hayes recommeded further study, after
the points were retyped and presented to the commission.
9. Announcements and Miscellaneous.'Matters
There were none at this time.
10. Hearing of Visitors
John Conley suggested that we publish one subject bulletins, i.e.
regarding our new model guidelines book.
11. Adjourment
Joann Sporleder moved to adjourn, F. J. Nimtz seconded. The
meeting was adjourned at 9:13 p.m.
