We are requesting use of the St. Joseph /Wayne Street parking garage for the following date:
10 June 1994.
The intent of the celebration is to increase community support in general and bring people to
the downtown area in a unique setting. The idea of utilizing the rooftop of the garage,
overlooking the city, is ideal.
The celebration would entail the presence of a band, food and alcohol. We are asking that
the Redevelopment Commission approve the date subject to Alive With Pride obtaining
insurance ( "special event "), and subject to AMPCO (as managers of the parking garages)
approving our request as well.
The celebration is similar to a "Meet Me on the Island" gathering. It would begin at 5:00 pm
and continue until about 11:00 pm.
With the garage being approximately 70 - 75 % occupied, the upper levels are not utilized
and therefore we would not need to displace any parkers in the garage on the day of the
event. We would primarily utilize only the upper level of the garage.
We look forward to you favorable recommendation.

Dear Ann;
In early January of this year I contacted you to request permission
to use a portion of property controlled by the Redevelopment
Department.
As I advised, each May, The Michiana Chapter of The Studebaker
Drivers Club sponsors a Swap Meet which is hosted by Newman &
Altman, Inc., 405 W. Sample St, in South Bend. In an attempt to
promote and perpetuate the Swap Meet we are adding a Car Show this
year. The show will be restricted to Studebaker and Packard
automobiles only.
We are requesting permission to use a portion of the property which
is located east. of LaFayet.te Street, (across the street from the
former Avanti building site) and north of Sample Street. You had
advised me in January that the property has been for sale and that
should permission be granted, there was risk the property could be
sold prior to the date we are requesting it's use.
Please find outlined below a summary of the information you
requested.
1. The date of the Car Show is Saturday, May 7, 1994.
2. The property will be used for displaying "Show Car Entrants"
for judging. Foot traffic from Car Show participants and the
general public will be expected on the property.
3. The Michaian Chapter of The Studebaker Drivers Club will
provide you with an Insurance Certificate from our
International Club for the day of the Car Show.

4. The Michiana Chapter of The Studebaker Drivers Club will be
responsible for clean up of the property after the Car Show is
completed. Clean up will ensure that the property is
returned to it's condition prior to the Car Show.
5. As mentioned, should the property be sold prior to the date
we are requesting to use it, we would be required to move the
Car Show to the unpaved parking lot of Newman & Altman, Inc.
I've enclosed a Swap Meet / Car Show flyer for your perusal. All
Car Show information is located on the back. Please note the hours
of operation and again that the request is for one day only.
Should you require any additional information please contact me. I
may be reached during the day at (219) 295 -7940 or in the evening
at (219) 831 -4756. I would appreciate your assistance in
formulating a decision as soon as possible so we may continue with
our planning.
