STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT The City of South Bend through its Fire Department operates a Indiana River Rescue Response Team, which contracts with the Indiana State Emergency Management Agency to provide river rescue services throughout the_ State of Indiana and elsewhere as directed by the State of Indiana. To operate at full efficiency and best protect the public, the Hazardous Materials Response Team needs to purchase new equipment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The following sum of money is hereby appropriated and ordered set apart from and within the River Rescue (Fund #291) for the cost of providing a Public Training Program and purchase of new equipment. Account No. 291 0904 422 32-03 291 0904 422 39-70 291 0904 422 43-05 Description Travel Instruction Equipment Total Amount $ 2, 200.00 $ 2, 800.00 $ 11,000.00 $ 16,000.00 SECTION II. Revenues are generated by our River Rescue instructors teaching a minimum of two (2) 40 hour classes each year to public safety officers throughout the County. This continues to be a great asset in defraying the expense for the operation for the year of 2004. Funds are available and the appropriation is for the following equipment. (see attached) Battalion Chief Jim Lopez will be the presenter of this ordinance. If you have any questions, I will be available to answer them.
