The following is a summary and descriptionof Change OrderNo.1:
The original intent of this project was to close existingwater valvesand relocate hydrant
assemblies inanticipation of twoupcomingINDOT projects, Corby/Ironwood/Rockne
Intersection Improvements and Olive Street Reconstruction. Most ofthe work was tobe
completedin the tree lawn area.
On Olive Street, closing the valves became a much more difficult task due tothevalves
being completely paved over, aswell asthe proximityto a proposed inlet for the upcoming
INDOT project which would put the relocated lines directly in conflict with the inlet. To
addressthis,a larger pavement section was removed, andanInserta Valvewas installed
closer to the mainline. This allowed the contractor to install two elbows out of the way of
the proposed structure.
This work was performed ona time and material basis due to the unforeseensite
conditions atthis projectlocation. As a result of the unforeseenwork related to closing the
existing valves, the change order amount is$16,856.79, which is 36.75%. The scope of the
project remained unchanged.
