L mmmicatlon tram Felix Owsley. Mrs. Kolata noted that the letters from Mr. Owsley, dated May 13 and May 15, were distributed to the Commissioners in their packets. He is concerned about the ugact of the West Washington \Chapin jaf3r.ld ehensive Plan on the black ation of the neighborhood and on the ncome individuals who could not the rent in the housing planned by Bend Heritage. He would like the scion to take his coimnents into deration as they move forward. She ot read the letters aloud, but ated that copies will be attached to minutes and are available to anyone stina them. Mr. Nimtz noted that the Chair had read the communications. He also noted the article by Jane Millsaps which appeared in a Michian Point of View on May 25, 198 . There was no old business. -2- THERE MS NO OLD BUSINESS South Berms I Redevelopment Commission Regular Meoting - May 26, 1989 6. a. b. Kolata noted that Rick Pitts had L working with Pat Brown, the icipal of SiteScapes, to redesign the : area in front of the Morris Civic torium, to make it more accessible to public and to allow a better view of front of the Morris Civic. noted that Mr. Broom has done a ;iderable amount of preliminary design : to date as a connunity service and loses to take it to a final design e for a cost of $750. He will work L the Redevelopment Staff and Center Associates, as well as the Park xtment, to complete the design. Mr. Wolf expressed appreciation for the f consulting work Mr. Brawn has done to this point. Mr. Wolf also noted that Clark Equipment has offered to donate a mature, living Christmas tree to be planted in that location, but it did not make sense to have that planted until the pEu*k was redesigned. Mr Brown noted that he appreciated the opportunity to be of service to the Qxmission and to South Bend. He has recently gone into business for himself arxi would like the Commission to become ac6uainted with his work. Mrs. Kolata noted that this item was not dy for the Commission to consider and as] Ded that it be postponed to the next mex ting. Mr. Nimtz asked if there was any ob -jection to postponing discussion of this item. There was no objection and i 6.b. was postponed. Mrs. Kplata, noted that Philly's Finest, a new sandwich shop on Michigan Street, is having its grand opening with a "sandwich cutting on June 1 Ms. Ad x= noted that we need to continue to patronize the older restaurants in the down also as well as the new. Mr. Wolf noted that there will be a downtown tion breakfast on June 9 at the Morris Civic 'torium. The Redevelopment Cmni ioners will be receiving invitations. The ne# Regular Meeting of the Redevelopment Ccmmisoion is scheduled for June 91 1989, at 10:00 4.m. There leing no further business to come before the Commnission, Mr. Donoho made a motion that the meeting be adjourned.
